Eu vou + ANY VERB in the infinitive.
*The infinitive is just the raw, un-conjugated form. It always ends in ar, er or ir.
Eu vou comer spaghetti.
» I'm going to eat spaghetti.
Eu vou acordar cedo.
» I'm going to wake up early.
Eu vou trabalhar hoje.
» I'm going to work today.
This following quiz will train you on JUST this form - using EU VOU ... *Remember: The "eu" is optional. Eu vou comer == Vou comer.
Ir: when you just want to say, GOING.
If you leave off the verb after IR and just say, Eu vou... you're just saying going -- as in: going to somewhere; going now; going later; going here or there; going alone or with a friend ETC!
Eu vou à praia.
