The last place on earth you'll find a video rental store is in Brazil. Here, they still thrive yet no one actually knows why. Perhaps it's because they are such great places to hook-up.

* She really did say "algum filme" though she almost completely swallowed the word. Listen to it again. It's normal for Brazilians to say some things too fast to actually comprehend -- your job is to not get stuck and try and stay in the conversation.

HUGO
Oi? Não. Aqui são filmes românticos. Os filmes de suspense, eu não sei onde estão.

Ah. Então aqui deve ter algum filme do Woody Allen.

* Here's "algum" again. Sounds like she's saying "um" -- really not much difference.

HUGO
Woody Allen seria comédia, não seria?

* SERIA from the verb SER. It's the conditional: would be.

CLAUDIA
Depende da sua perspectiva. Mas eu também gosto de romances.

* DA SUA: notice the possessive pronoun here SUA: it agress with the gender OF PERSEPCTIVA. So does the DA ( = de + a).

É mesmo.

É. Mas aqui parece que só tem filme estranho. Você conseguiu alguma coisa boa aí?

* "É" can mean "sim." It's like we say "it is."

O que? Esse? Esse é uma romance. Sobre duas mulheres. Na verdade, é um filme sobre amizade.

* "Natação" = swimming (from the verb NADAR)
